Come Build Robots

At Ouster, we build sensors and tools for engineers, roboticists, and researchers so they can make the world safer and more efficient. We've transformed LIDAR from an analog device with thousands of components to an elegant digital device powered by one chip-scale laser array and one CMOS sensor. The result is a full range of high-resolution LIDAR sensors that deliver superior imaging at a dramatically lower price. Our advanced sensor hardware and vision algorithms are used in autonomous cars, drones and many other applications. If you’re motivated by solving big problems, we’re hiring key roles across the company and need your help!

As a Director of Hardware at Ouster you will take responsibility for the hardware and electrical systems operating at the core of high-resolution, low-cost lidar sensors for autonomous vehicles, robotics, mapping, and security. All aspects of the lidar design and continuing development including mechanical, optical, electrical, firmware, thermal, silicon, and functional safety design will be within your purview, and the entire hardware engineering org will report to you.

You will work as the heartbeat of Ouster reporting directly to the CEO and CTO. You will need to collaborate closely with manufacturing, manufacturing test, supply chain, and operations to manage the NPI process and support our sustaining engineering efforts. You will interface directly with sales, marketing, product, and our customer base to understand product requirements and feedback and ensure they are appropriately addressed. For the right person, this will be a defining experience in their careers, but it will demand an extreme level of commitment and diligence in order to be successful.
