About the role

We are seeking an Internal audit manager to support the Company’s effort to maintain our SOX program as a new public company, as well as setting up an operational Internal audit program. Reporting to the Head of Internal Audit, you will have broad exposure to the operations of the Company and will interact with leaders across Finance, Legal, HR, Operations, Sales, Engineering and IT as well as our external auditors and advisors. This individual will assist with managing Ouster's in-house internal audit team (3 direct reports located in Thailand) as well as external service providers (number of consultants varies). You will take a lead role in planning, organizing, and executing the SOX testing program throughout the Company with guidance from the Head of Internal Audit. This role presents an excellent, long-term path for career development at Ouster, Ouster Internal Audit is committed to recruiting and developing great talent.

This is a hybrid role requiring the manager to be on-site at our San Francisco office 2 to 3 days per week. We encourage candidates to live within a sustainable commuting distance of the San Francisco office to support the in-office requirement; relocation benefits are not available for this role.

This person ideally possesses technology sector experience, with a focus on end-to-end SOX compliance. The candidate must have knowledge of process flow mapping, design and documentation of controls, controls testing, evaluation of control deficiencies and remediation plans. Additionally, the candidate must have the ability to effectively manage relationships with partners (external auditors, outsourcing partners, control owners), demonstrate proficient project management skills, superior communication (written and oral) and organizational skills.

Key responsibilities:

  • Drive the annual enterprise risk assessment process, collaborating with senior leadership to inform and develop a dynamic, risk-based Internal Audit plan aligned with Ouster's strategic objectives.
  • Manage the end-to-end SOX testing program, ensuring compliance and the effective control environment required of a public company.
  • Provide strategic advisory support on the control implications of new accounting standards and new application implementations.

  • Conduct thorough root cause analysis on control deficiencies, partnering with control owners to develop strategic, sustainable remediation plans, and rigorously validate their successful execution.

The Role:

We're seeking a proactive and skilled engineer who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment to be an integral part of our San Francisco hardware team.

 

What You'll Do:

  • Architect, define, produce, and manage system-level requirements for functionally safe sensing products in compliance with standards like ISO 26262.
  • Develop and maintain critical safety work products, including the Safety Plan, HARA, Functional Safety Concepts (FSC), and Technical Safety Concepts (TSC), for both internal design teams and external safety assessors.

The Accounts Payable (AP) Manager is a pivotal leadership role responsible for the strategic oversight, optimization, and transformation of the company's procure-to-pay (P2P) lifecycle. You will ensure the timely, accurate, and compliant processing of all vendor payments globally, directly supporting the company's financial integrity and operational efficiency within a complex, high-volume hardware manufacturing environment.

This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who is dedicated to both strategic improvement and operational excellence. It requires an expert in AP technology and financial controls (SOX), proven leadership ability, and a dedication to driving automation and continuous process improvement.

Key Areas of Responsibility

1. Strategic Process & Compliance

  • Process Ownership: Own the global P2P process end-to-end, including purchase requisition review, purchase order management, invoice processing, and payment execution.
  • Automation & Efficiency: Strategically identify, recommend, and implement workflow automation and process changes to enhance speed, eliminate manual effort, and improve data accuracy.
  • Risk & Control: Develop, document, and enforce P2P policies and procedures, ensuring strict compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and SOX requirements.

2. Team Leadership & Development

3. Financial Reporting & Technology

  • Month-End Close: Manage all AP aspects of the financial close process, including timely accruals, balance sheet reconciliations, and vendor statement analysis.
  • Tax Compliance: Oversee accurate year-end 1099 reporting and ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal tax laws related to AP.
  • ERP Expertise: Serve as the functional subject matter expert (SME) for the AP technology stack. Direct, hands-on experience with NetSuite is required.

You will work closely with R&D and Operations to support LiDAR products by using your skills and experience to identify and facilitate the improvement of manufacturing tests and processes.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide ongoing maintenance, support, and enhancements to existing and future test systems and platforms. 
  • Be a subject matter expert, responsible for driving and implementing test time reduction, yield improvements, process optimization, quality improvements, and overall production readiness. 
  • Ensure quality control systems and standards (GR&R, SPC, Control Charts, etc.) are implemented. 
  • Use your skills to not only find problems but also identify the root cause to implement solid corrective/preventive actions using tools such as 8D Problem Solving, 5 Whys, 3P, Fishbone, etc. 
  • Participate in scalability and manufacturability projects to scale production with increasing volumes. 
  • Prepare and update technical documents including, but not limited to, test work instructions, tester corrective active plans, and training documents. 
  • Oversee, instruct, and train test operators during the production bring-up process. 
  • Use your expertise to participate and lead development in annual improvement initiatives. 

Qualifications & Skills:

  • A strong proficiency in Python programming and debugging, data collection, and data analysis. 
  • Knowledge of software engineering best practices for the full software development life cycle,  
  • Experience in coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations. 
  • Familiarity with using issue tracking and source control tools such as Jira, Confluence, Gitlab/Bitbucket/Subversion, Bamboo/Jenkins, and or equivalent. 
  • Experience in deploying test software across a variety of platforms and operating systems. Working on multi-platform environments such as Windows and Unix/Linux would be a plus. 
  • Experience working with LiDAR, optical/electrical/mechanical products, test measurement equipment, and robotic automation, would be beneficial. 
  • Experience with data analysis (JMP, Tableau, SQL) is preferred.

The Senior Tax Manager will join our Head of Tax in our growing tax and finance team. You will support all facets of our tax function, including sales/use tax, provision, compliance, and tax planning for our global lidar business.

What you will be doing – key responsibilities:

  • Partner with multiple external tax providers in management and preparation of quarterly and annual tax provisions, worldwide corporate income tax compliance/planning, and global indirect tax
  • Be tax lead in maintaining and implementing changes to support Ouster in its business process such as quote to cash, procure to pay, new finance systems, given the Company’s growth
  • Support international accounting and transfer pricing calculations for our intercompany/cross-border transactions
  • Manage tax audits through tax analysis, information gathering and documentation
  • Manage SOX tax processes and controls
  • Assist with other reporting, calculations and analysis, as required on an ad-hoc basis
