Role Summary

 

As a Staff Software Engineer in Test, you will be the architect and owner of the automated test framework for our cutting-edge Ouster lidar sensor software interface. You will design, build, and maintain a robust system that ensures our software is reliable, performant, and bug-free before it reaches our customers in the robotics, industrial automation, and automotive industries. While you'll be a key member of the Quality organization, you will work in close collaboration with the Design engineering team to integrate testing early and often in the development lifecycle. Your work will be critical to guaranteeing the world-class quality and reliability of our perception systems.

 

Key Responsibilities

 
  • Expert Communicator: Articulate issues in a concise manner to technical and non-technical teams across the organization.
  • Framework Architecture & Development: Design, develop, and maintain a scalable and modular automated test framework from the ground up using modern practices in Python.
  • Test Case Implementation: Write clean, efficient, and maintainable automated tests that validate the functionality, performance, and stability of the lidar sensor's software interface, APIs, and communication protocols (TCP/UDP).
  • CI/CD Integration: Integrate the automated test suites into our CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab CI, Jenkins) to enable continuous testing and provide rapid feedback to the development teams.

The Role:

We're seeking a proactive and skilled engineer who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment to be an integral part of our San Francisco hardware team.

 

What You'll Do:

  • Architect, define, produce, and manage system-level requirements for functionally safe sensing products in compliance with standards like ISO 26262.
  • Develop and maintain critical safety work products, including the Safety Plan, HARA, Functional Safety Concepts (FSC), and Technical Safety Concepts (TSC), for both internal design teams and external safety assessors.
  • Responsible for comprehensive requirements management, ensuring end-to-end traceability from system requirements to hardware/software implementation and verification test cases.
  • Leverage Python and AI tools to automate the generation of documentation, streamline verification processes, and create scripts for data analysis and reporting.

Required (Basic Qualifications):

  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a systems engineering role, with at least 3 years directly involved in the development of functionally safe products.
  • Demonstrable, in-depth knowledge and hands-on application of ISO 26262, particularly Parts 3, 4, 5, and 6.
  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience using a dedicated requirements management tool, with a strong preference for Jama Connect.

The Accounts Payable (AP) Manager is a pivotal leadership role responsible for the strategic oversight, optimization, and transformation of the company's procure-to-pay (P2P) lifecycle. You will ensure the timely, accurate, and compliant processing of all vendor payments globally, directly supporting the company's financial integrity and operational efficiency within a complex, high-volume hardware manufacturing environment.

This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who is dedicated to both strategic improvement and operational excellence. It requires an expert in AP technology and financial controls (SOX), proven leadership ability, and a dedication to driving automation and continuous process improvement.

This position will be a hybrid capacity in the San Francisco, CA, location. (2-3 days)

Key Areas of Responsibility

1. Strategic Process & Compliance

  • Process Ownership: Own the global P2P process end-to-end, including purchase requisition review, purchase order management, invoice processing, and payment execution.
  • Automation & Efficiency: Strategically identify, recommend, and implement workflow automation and process changes to enhance speed, eliminate manual effort, and improve data accuracy.
  • Risk & Control: Develop, document, and enforce P2P policies and procedures, ensuring strict compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and SOX requirements.
  • Issue Resolution: Act as the final point of escalation for complex payment issues, vendor disputes, and invoice/inventory receipt discrepancies.

2. Team Leadership & Development

  • Global Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing AP team, including management of resources in the Thailand operational center.
  • Performance Management: Set clear goals and KPIs (e.g., invoice-to-payment cycle time, compliance rates), providing regular feedback and fostering a culture of accountability and professional growth.

3. Financial Reporting & Technology

  • Month-End Close: Manage all AP aspects of the financial close process, including timely accruals, balance sheet reconciliations, and vendor statement analysis.
  • Tax Compliance: Oversee accurate year-end 1099 reporting and ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal tax laws related to AP.
  • ERP Expertise: Serve as the functional subject matter expert (SME) for the AP technology stack. Direct, hands-on experience with NetSuite is required.
  • System Integration: Lead or support initiatives for system upgrades and seamless integration between AP/P2P and other critical business systems (e.g., Inventory Management, GL).

Our team is looking for a passionate, self-motivated Manufacturing Test Software Engineer with strong in-depth knowledge of test software and product engineering. In this position, you will be a member of the Test team at Ouster’s production facility in Ayutthaya, Thailand. You will work closely with R&D and Operations to support LiDAR products by using your skills and experience to identify and facilitate the improvement of manufacturing tests and processes.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide ongoing maintenance, support, and enhancements to existing and future test systems and platforms. 
  • Be a subject matter expert, responsible for driving and implementing test time reduction, yield improvements, process optimization, quality improvements, and overall production readiness. 
  • Ensure quality control systems and standards (GR&R, SPC, Control Charts, etc.) are implemented. 
  • Use your skills to not only find problems but also identify the root cause to implement solid corrective/preventive actions using tools such as 8D Problem Solving, 5 Whys, 3P, Fishbone, etc. 
  • Participate in scalability and manufacturability projects to scale production with increasing volumes. 
  • Prepare and update technical documents including, but not limited to, test work instructions, tester corrective active plans, and training documents. 
  • Oversee, instruct, and train test operators during the production bring-up process. 
  • Use your expertise to participate and lead development in annual improvement initiatives. 

Qualifications & Skills:

  • A strong proficiency in Python programming and debugging, data collection, and data analysis. 
  • Knowledge of software engineering best practices for the full software development life cycle,  
  • Experience in coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations. 
  • Familiarity with using issue tracking and source control tools such as Jira, Confluence, Gitlab/Bitbucket/Subversion, Bamboo/Jenkins, and or equivalent. 
  • Experience in deploying test software across a variety of platforms and operating systems. Working on multi-platform environments such as Windows and Unix/Linux would be a plus. 
  • Experience working with LiDAR, optical/electrical/mechanical products, test measurement equipment, and robotic automation, would be beneficial.
