At Ouster, we're developing advanced sensor hardware and vision algorithms for autonomous cars and drones. We are looking for a motivated Business Development Manager to sell our sensors and gain adoption in a variety of sectors - automotive/AV, industrial automation, surveying/mapping, drones, universities and more. Technical skills are important as you will need to be a highly entrepreneurial and creative business development thinker but even more important will be your insatiable curiosity.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Engage in the entire consultative sales & business development process: identify and qualify leads, respond to inbound leads, find introductions and/or cold email/call potential customers, send quotes, convert them to customers, and expand relationships with existing customers
  • Help get reference design wins that create a deep future pipeline of sales
  • Nurture existing customers and increase their sensor purchases quarter over quarter
  • Pass out of scope leads to our global channel partners
  • Keep our CRM updated and report as needed to the rest of the team
  • Attend trade shows to engage with potential and existing customers
  • Manage existing customer relationships, including answering customer questions of technical or non-technical nature to ensure successful sensor deployments.

Business Development Manager, Industry — EMEA — Paris

We need creative, curious dynamic individuals who get excited at the prospect of integrating robotics and automation into existing and never thought of applications.

This position is located in Paris, France, but remote candidates in Europe will be considered.

Business Development Representative — San Francisco

We are looking for a motivated Business Development Representative to generate and vet leads with customers in order to gain adoption in a variety of sectors - automotive/AV, industrial automation, surveying/mapping, drones, universities and more.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Creatively generate & qualify leads from a variety of sources and tee up conversations for the rest of the business development.
  • Research and build profiles on qualified leads through LinkedIn, HubSpot, and Vertical Specific Market Research to feed the top of the sales team funnel. Areas of research include organizations and applicable projects across a variety of sectors from robotics, to intelligent infrastructure, mapping, autonomous vehicles, entertainment, AR/VR, heavy industries, and many other sectors.
  • Contribute to mapping the market with the sales operations and growth marketing team to process inbound sales requests accurately and efficiently. Co-manage lead generation related email blasts and marketing campaigns.
  • Document successes and failures and develop a world-class BDR process for the organization
  • You are the tip of the spear for new business for the company. Success will be measured on qualified leads introduced to the team and pipeline generated, in addition to other metrics on supporting the organization.

Customer Success Engineer — APAC — Hong Kong

Ouster is hiring a Customer Success Engineer to help our robotics customers be as successful and efficient with our lidar sensors as possible! This position will serve primarily to help our customers get up and running quickly, troubleshoot and fix any problems, track trending issues, and process all returns. These duties will be performed in compliance with policy guidelines and within timeframes as defined in the team’s SLAs and/or project requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Onboard customers after they have received their sensor, making sure they have all the tools and information to complete their projects.
  • Quickly investigate, evaluate and successfully resolve customer issues with Lidar Sensors.
  • Efficiently diagnose hardware, software and network related problems on a variety of platforms.
  • Carry out independent research to find technical solutions where necessary. Where a solution cannot be identified, the candidate will work closely with our engineering teams, to escalate as appropriate.
  • Provide advice on configuring and optimizing environments, to ensure that services are running effectively.
  • Given the critical nature of the customer projects and product issues supported, after-hours and some weekend work will be required.
  • Create and maintain knowledge and support articles.

  • Strong experience supporting Linux environments (Ubuntu preferred)

Field Applications Engineer — San Francisco

Ouster is hiring a Field Application Engineer (FAE) to help our customers integrate the Ouster sensors into their projects and make them successful with lidar. This position will work closely with the business development team and customers in pre & post-sale technical activities.

As an FAE you will develop skills in our current product features, tools and design flows, as well as facilitate adoption of these solutions with a variety of customer systems.

The ideal candidate would display an interest or proficiency in lidar physics, electromechanical systems, basic thermal engineering considerations, electrical system troubleshooting (oscopes, multimeters), signal protocols, computer networking, and electromechanical integration.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Be the expert liaison between Customers, Business Development, and Engineering
  • Consult the customer through the process of design, testing, and integration into new and existing development projects.
  • Proactively come up with Proof-Of-Concept (POC) designs for various use-cases/real-time applications leveraging the latest tools and technologies available
  • Troubleshooting system applications on customer's request, resolving other engineering issues regarding systems application, conducting regular follow up on customer's activities, and monitoring the same for obtaining new sales opportunities
  • Interact closely with the leading technology vendors to understand the new technologies/architectures being rolled out and how to apply them
  • Assist the Business Development team through pre & post sale activities
  • Conduct training for clients on the latest tools & technologies
  • Build on the knowledge & expertise gained from the previous projects to build better designs and POCs
  • Strategically and effectively communicate to customers
  • Many of these responsibilities are most effectively carried out in person at customer sites so travel will be a necessity once restrictions are eased

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Hunger for continual learning and applying knowledge to solve technical problems
  • Initiative to self-educate and seek learning opportunities related to lidar and its applications
  • Experience with hands-on debugging with power supplies, multimeters, oscilloscopes
  • Experience in robotics, electromechanical systems, and integration of sensors
  • Cursory skills in Python, C++, BASH, Matlab scripting
  • Basic understanding of signal protocols (UART, CAN, RS-232) and numerical representations (binary, hexadecimal)
  • Strong experience working in Windows and Linux environments
  • Understanding of networking concepts such as mDNS, Link-Local, IPv4, IPv6, DHCP, Subnet Mask, HTTP REST API, SSH, UDP, and TCP/IP protocols and applications
  • Experience with ROS (Robot Operating System) and related robotics software tools (desired, but not required)

Office Manager / Logistic Manager — APAC — Hong Kong

This position is based in Hong Kong island.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains office services by organizing office operations and procedures; designing filing systems; reviewing and approving supply requisitions; clerical functions.
  • Manage logistics and supply inventory and orders – including packing/receiving and shipping with strong coordination with forwarder and countries customs
  • Maintains office efficiency by planning and implementing office systems, layouts, and equipment procurement.

Product Marketing Engineer — San Francisco

Ouster is looking for our first Product Marketing Engineer to deeply understand and clearly communicate the compelling features and benefits of our sensors to our technical customer base. Your mission in this role is to scale our customer-facing technical knowledge and produce easy to use, clear, and wide-ranging content that helps customers adopt our products faster and more successfully. You will serve as the nexus of technical and product knowledge for our global sales teams. RESPONSIBILITIES:

FPGA Hardware Engineer — San Francisco

We are looking for digital hardware engineers with cross-functional experience in FPGA/ASIC design and software to join our growing hardware engineering team. The ideal candidate has previously architected and designed FPGA platforms, and has direct experience with hardware bring-up. Algorithm and DSP experience would be a plus. In addition to FPGA design, the candidate will be expected to write C++ code, and work in the hardware lab on occasion.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, develop, and integrate features across our hardware stack, including DSP, image processing, and high speed data transfer
  • Work cross-functionally with embedded software engineers, other ASIC/FPGA designers, and business leaders on functionality, interfaces, and documentation
  • Work on high impact customer-facing features and integrate customer feedback in the development process
  • Collaborate with vendors to deliver products effectively
  • Bring up new hardware and develop solutions to complex algorithmic problems to improve sensor performance and capabilities
  • Create test benches and debug complex logic simulations

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong experience in ASIC or FPGA design in Verilog/SystemVerilog
  • Strong C and/or C++ programming skills
  • Hardware/software co-design and verification experience
  • Experience with embedded Linux (e.g. hardware APIs, high speed DMA, interrupt handling)
  • Experience with processor architecture and various communications protocols such as AXI, I2C, UART, SPI, ethernet, etc.
  • Experience driving relationships and working with vendors for product development
  • Experience with hands-on debugging in the lab with power supplies, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes
  • Familiarity with DSP and algorithms development
  • Bonus: Experience with Xilinx FPGAs and Vivado toolchain
  • Bonus: Experience with functional safety and embedded systems security

Sr. DevOps Engineer — San Francisco

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS in computer science or related field

Sr. Frontend Engineer — San Francisco

We are looking for a senior frontend developer to help improve our data management, processing and visualization applications. These are core tools that enable our customers’ interaction with the Ouster lidar. Ideal candidate has experience with architecture and the whole lifecycle of medium sized frontend application. Interest and experience in 3D rendering in the browser is a bonus, as well as some ability to work on the entire stack.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Turn Ouster product goals into memorable UI experiences
  • Design and implement UI in a modular and extensible way. As a byproduct produce libraries that could be leveraged on other projects
  • Cultivate best practices and mentor team members to move the envelope of how frontend is developed at Ouster
  • Be able to take care of the product through every stage of the project From interaction with the product manager, implementation to deployment, maintenance and support of the product in the wild
  • Work on improvements to our 3D rendering pipeline of point clouds and make sure the output is fast, functional and beautiful

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS in computer science or related field
  • Minimum 5 years experience delivering modern browser based applications
  • Our stack touches multiple disciplines so willingness to learn is essential
  • Fluency in one or more frontend frameworks like React, Angular or Vue. Our stack is currently mostly React.
  • Strong coding skills (JS and Typescript)
  • Experience with Electron is a plus
  • Knowledge of WebGL and general interest in 3d visualization (three.js)
  • Ability to write efficient fast code to support the rendering pipeline.
  • Understanding the pitfalls of JS modules and be able to lead our way towards esm modules while being able to support several build targets (browser, node, electron)
  • Good understanding of the frontend toolchain like Webpack, Babel
  • This role is frontend centric but some understanding of the rest of the stack (flask, DB, deployment, cloud) is beneficial
