The VLP 16 is a small and compact sensor that is performance and power optimized for usage across a variety of applications ranging from automotive, mapping, robotics, security, and infrastructure. With ranges up to 200 m and up to ~600,000 points/second, across a 360° horizontal field of view and a 40° vertical field of view for excellent 3D scanning. It provides an exceptional resolution to price point ratio.

Class 1 eye-safe 905 nm technology with substantial autonomous fleet validation makes the VLP a sensor of choice for lower speed autonomous vehicle (AV) applications. The mid-range VLP has best-in-class power draw, which enables operation over a wide temperature range. Its use of off-the-shelf components enables enhanced scalability and attractive volume pricing. Like other Ouster sensors, the VLP has world-class technical support available across North America, Europe & Asia from the world’s leading lidar company.

Compact
Form Factor
 Lidar Sensor

With weights as low as 590g (without cabling and interfacing boxes), and a height x width of just 72 x89mm, the VLP 16 sensor is great fits for drone and UAV applications, as well as anything where size and weight are a key decision factor. Dual Returns

All Ouster lidar sensors support a dual return mode that enables lidar applications to more accurately capture the details of complex environments, such as forests, infrastructure and buildings, which contain scattered small objects and non-opaque surfaces. A significant advantage over single returns alone, providing the user with multiple returns greatly increases the number of useable points available to map or navigate any setting. This feature enables our lidar sensors to deliver the precise 3D image data needed for insights to advance efficiency, safety, and sustainability.
